About Us

Karunalayam Rural Welfare Society

To empower rural women through group organization and training in an integrated programme of women, development.

Karunalayam Rural Welfare Society started in 1994 and registered under the Societies Act in 2003. The society is registered as a non-government, non-political, non-profitable, non-religious social service organization. It promotes women's self-help groups, rural health awareness programs, vocational training programs, education, and career guideline for youth. For the past 18 years, the goal has been empowering the weaker sections of society such as women, children, disabled, and old age people in the Ariyankuppam Block. The activities that have been carried out by us are for the welfare of the women in Nettapakkam and the surrounding villages.

Our Programs

Family counselling centre's

To focus the emotional well being of the women and children counselling centre's has been set up for each village with a proper counsellor and also experts has been referred for serious issues. 

Training Programme

Skills trainings for the youth and women are conducted on a regular basis to improve and develop their skills socially, economically and spiritually. Trainings are provided in various fields with experts also with the certificate.

Rural awareness programme

Many awareness campaigns has been conducting for the people around to educate them and also to create an awareness about the health and other issues. It has also shown a great impact with the people in the changes and improved way of living. Campaigns related to environment, health, education has been provided for the people.

Vocational activities

Many vocational courses and other trainings have been provided for the village people which helps them to upgrade their skills and personality. In the focus of improvement in education, career guidance classes has been provided for the school childrens

Covid-19 Awareness Program

On 19th Oct 2020 Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Field Outreach Bureau Puducherry & Karunalayam Rural Welfare Society, Puducherry jointly organized a program about COVID-19 appropriate behavior pledge & auto publicity inauguration. The program started at 10 AM. In this program, we explained about the symptoms of COVID-19 and how to protect ourselves from covid-19. Self-hygiene like washing hands, sanitizing, social distancing, and wearing a masks. These are as follows:
*Wash your hand every 10 minutes
*Take a bath when you enter your home
*Wear a mask when you step out of home
*Maintain social distance etc

Formation of Self Help Groups

Women SHG's have been formed to help them in their financial and were also celebrated as part financial and Sustainable development. Various activities and important days were also celebrated as part of this group to improve their skills.
